The Institute of African American Research would like to invite all graduate students working on topics relevant to African American issues of history, biology, culture, social experiences, and thought to attend a reception for the purposes of communication and discussion.
This event will give students from widely different disciplines and programs whose work focuses on the African American experience a chance to connect with each other and to brainstorm potential collaborations. In addition, the Institute staff will solicit student input on ways to better support graduate student research at UNC.
Food and beverages will be provided, along with the opportunity to network and converse about common interests. We will also use the occasion to recognize the recipients of the Small Grants Program awarded this month through the Institute.
All graduate students are welcome to attend this free event, though registration is requested to plan for meeting the needs of all attendees.
