Impact Award Applications Now Accepted
September 24, 2012
The Graduate School of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill is currently accepting applications for the 2013 Impact Awards. Applications must be submitted through the online application system, which can be found at http://gradschool.unc.edu/impact.
Departmental review and approval are required prior to submission to The Graduate School. Prospective applicants should check with their departments for their internal deadlines. Applications must be completed early enough for departments to provide nominations to The Graduate School. Departmental nominations are due by October 17, 2012.
“The Impact Awards recognize students with research that has an impact on challenges faced in North Carolina and beyond,” said Steve Matson, dean of The Graduate School. “Successful projects increase our understanding of these challenges and provide hope for solutions.”
Graduate students in all academic areas are encouraged to apply. Awardees receive a cash prize, plaque and recognition at The Graduate School’s Graduate Student Recognition Celebration in April.
Graduate students are eligible to apply if:
- They are current master’s or doctoral students or recent graduates (May 2010 or later)
- The research is on a topic that relates to or impacts North Carolina
Previous award recipients are not eligible to apply again with the same project.
