Prospective Students
North Carolina Excellence Fellowship
The North Carolina Excellence Fellowship provides a stipend, tuition & fees, and health insurance for one year. You are eligible if you are a student who will contribute to the diversity of UNC-Chapel Hill, a North Carolina resident, and applying to a doctoral program. Nomination only.
North Carolina Native American Incentive Grant
The North Carolina Native American Incentive Grant provides a stipend, tuition & fees, and health insurance for one year. You are eligible if you are a Native American, a North Carolina resident, and applying for a doctoral program. Nomination only.
Current Students
Dissertation Completion Research Fellowships (including the Royster Society of Fellows Dissertation Completion Research Fellowships) support doctoral students engaged in research and writing toward the completion of their dissertations.
In particular, there are special Society of Fellows Dissertation Completion Research Fellowships to encourage diversity of scholarship and research perspectives:
- Sequoyah Fellowship for American Indian Students/Research
- The Fellowship for Diversity in the Sciences
- The Fellowship for Diversity in the Humanities, Social Sciences or Professional Programs

Ford Foundation Fellowship Programs
Ford Foundation Fellowship awards are offered at the Predoctoral, Dissertation and Postdoctoral levels. Through its Fellowship Programs, the Ford Foundation seeks to increase the diversity of the nations college and university faculties.
