Lovick P. Corn

September 30, 2013

Lovick Pierce Corn, whose generosity has provided and continues to provide critical support to UNC-Chapel Hill graduate students, died on Sept. 26, 2013. Mr. Corn was 91 years old.

His gifts established the Lovick P. Corn Dissertation Fellowship and the Paul Hardin Dissertation Fellowship within the newly established Royster Society of Fellows. Since 1997, 20 students have received the Lovick P. Corn fellowship and 25 students have received his fellowship named in honor of Chancellor Paul Hardin.

These fellowships, focused on students in their final year of dissertation preparation, continue to resonate in the lives of graduate students and to support graduate student success at UNC-Chapel Hill: Four students currently hold the fellowships Mr. Corn established.
