Academic Services

Academic Success Program for Students with LD/ADHD
The Academic Success Program for Students with LD/ADHD (ASP) provides legal accommodations for students with documented learning disabilities and/or attention deficit disorder. ASP also offers coaching for students who want help in developing strategies to both define and meet goals. Focused dissertation coaching is also available.
University Libraries
The University Library supports inquiry and learning at the University and for the people of North Carolina. Library collections, services, staff, and facilities further the University's mission. The library provides leadership in the development of scholarly communication systems and in the application of information technology to teaching, research and learning.
The Writing Center
The Writing Center's graduate student consultants offer one-on-one feedback on any writing project, at any stage of the writing process; staff can also advise instructors about designing writing assignments and responding to student papers. The Center provides English Language and American Culture services to all non-native speakers of English; services include writing groups, speaking groups, workshops, and online videos.

APPLES Service Learning Program
APPLES is a student-led program that builds sustainable, service-learning partnerships among students, faculty and communities in North Carolina and beyond. The APPLES program works with faculty, instructors, and graduate students to integrate relevant community experiences in academic courses. This coming academic year is APPLES’ 20th anniversary of engaging the campus and the community by transforming teaching and deepening learning.
Carolina Student Legal Services
Carolina Student Legal Services is staffed by three licensed attorneys.They are available to provide students with assistance in understanding the factors that should be considered when one seeks legal advice, to determine if a lawyer's services are or are not necessary, and to provide appropriate representation and/or referral.
Carolina Women’s Center
The Carolina Women’s Center (CWC) promotes gender equity and empowerment. As part of our mission, the CWC engages in advocacy and policy-making work, sponsors programming, builds campus and community partnerships, and provides resources and services.
The Daily Tar Heel
The Daily Tar Heel (DTH) is UNC’s student newspaper. The paper circulates 20,000 free copies each publishing day during the regular academic year to 181 locations throughout campus, Chapel Hill, Carrboro and Durham, making it the largest community newspaper in the area with an estimated readership of 39,000. It publishes weekly during the summer. Its revenues are all self generated and mostly from retail and national display advertising.
Disability Services
The Department of Disability Services (DDS) works with departments throughout UNC to assure that the programs and facilities of the University are accessible to every student in the University community. Additionally, DDS provides reasonable accommodations, so students with disabilities who are otherwise qualified may, as independently as possible meet the demands of University life.
Diversity and Multicultural Affairs
Diversity and Multicultural Affairs provides University-wide leadership in developing and implementing initiatives that promote access to diversity within our student, faculty and staff communities. Diversity and Multicultural Affairs provides leadership, consultation, and project management of policies, programs, and services that promote diversity as a means of achieving educational excellence and enhancing the quality of life for all members of the UNC community.

Graduate Student Center
The Graduate Student Center (GSC) is designed to be a central space where graduate and professional students from all disciplines and departments on campus can come together. Shared research ideas, interdisciplinary seminars, professional development activities and meetings are all encouraged. The centralized meeting space will create a stronger sense of community among all graduate and professional students and provide a well-rounded Carolina experience.
Honor Court
Honor Court members are responsible for hearing alleged violations of the Honor Code. The Attorney General's staff, accused student, and reporting party present their evidence and testimony to the Honor Court members.  During these cases, Honor Court members deliberate on a judgment of guilty vs. not guilty and appropriate sanctions, if necessary. Honor System Outreach is responsible for promoting the ideals of honor and integrity throughout the University community.

International Student and Scholar Services
International Student and Scholar Services promotes international educational exchange through its services and programs. It serves as the principal administrative, programming, and advising office for approximately 2500 international students, faculty, and academic staff at UNC-Chapel Hill.
Information Technology Services
Information Technology Services (ITS) meets the technology needs of the University's community and supports educational, research and outreach missions by providing leading-edge services for academic and administrative endeavors. The Research Computing group provides a state-of-the-art environment that supports the highest level of multidisciplinary research and has helped UNC-Chapel Hill become the premier research university in the U.S. The Teaching and Learning division is responsible for many initiatives and services including Blackboard, classroom technology support, student computer labs, video services, and the campus Games4Learning initiative.
LGBTQ Center
The Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, and Queer (LGBTQ) Center works to foster a safe inclusive environment for UNC-Chapel Hill students of all sexualities, gender identities and gender expressions. We are located in the Student Academic Services Building (SASB) North, Suite 3226. This building is located at the corner of Ridge Road and Manning Drive near the Dean E. Smith Center. Everyone is welcome!

Orange County Board of Elections
The Orange County Board of Elections is the agency charged at the local level with responsibility for administering the elections process in Orange County. The Board’s mission is to ensure that elections are free, fair, accurate, convenient and accessible to all voters in Orange County. The department ensures adherence to Local, State, and Federal elections laws, rules and regulations. On site voter registration will be available.

UNC Visitors’ Center
At the UNC Visitors’ Center, visitors can obtain information on everything from history, to hotels, to restaurants, to campus events and more! An interactive touch screen can direct visitors to anywhere they need to go on campus. Visitors can also use a self-guided audio tour, complete with music and interesting facts about the landmarks and legends of UNC’s historic campus. Student-led tours of campus — highlighting the past, present and future Carolina — are available Monday through Friday.

The GrantSource Library is a resource for UNC-Chapel Hill faculty, staff, postdoctoral scholars and graduate students seeking information on funding sources for independent research, collaborative projects, fellowships, travel and other scholarly activities. We provide assistance and instruction on the best use of our resources. The library is part of the Office of Information and Communications.

The mission of University Career Services (USC) is to provide progressive services and resources to help students choose and prepare for their careers, learn job search skills and find employment. UCS serves underclassmen, seniors, graduate students and alumni. Services include individual career advising; internship and employment assistance; workshops on job-seeking skills; resume mailing service to employers; on-campus interviewing; and online internship, job listings, and occupational and employer information.

UNC Black Graduate Student Association
National Black Graduate Student Association (NBGSA) is the nation’s largest interdisciplinary graduate organization for students of African descent. The association was established to address the needs and concerns of black graduate and professional students, and to encourage black undergraduates to pursue advanced degrees. NBGSA provides critical resources for ensuring the academic success of African American students and aids in developing a powerful network of emerging black scholars who can continue to diversify the academy and enrich the larger community.
UNC General Alumni Association
The General Alumni Association (GAA) is a self-governed, nonprofit membership organization that serves The University of North Carolina and its many alumni, students, parents and friends.
