Understanding the Types of Student Payments

A student’s total need-based financial assistance (from federal and non-federal sources) may not exceed the student’s financial need. Receipt of scholarship assistance may reduce a student’s eligibility for federal and/or institutional loans, grants, scholarships and/or work study with the specific impact determined based on each student’s individual financial circumstances and financial aid eligibility. If it is found that there has been an overpayment/over-award made to a student, the student may be required to return funds that previously disbursed.
