Financial resources for graduate students
August, 19, 2020
I hope this message finds you well. So many of us are under added stress as we cope with the COVID-19 crisis and suspension of on-campus operations. This stress can be particularly acute for graduate students who have carefully planned their finances only to see their plans undone by circumstances beyond their control.
I want to make certain you are aware of some financial resources available to graduate students during the continuing COVID-19 crisis:
- The Carolina Student Impact Fund is available for graduate students who face financial challenges. If you have financial needs due to the COVID-19 situation, you can complete a request for financial assistance here.
- The Office of Scholarships and Student Aid has developed a list of frequently asked questions that you may find useful. You can reach that office at email@example.com or 919-962-8396.
- The Department of Education has updated its guidance for students, borrowers and parents.
The Office of Scholarships and Student Aid (OSSA) provides information to assist students who have unexpected financial pressures due to Covid-19. Information can be found on the OSSA website. For graduate students who want to apply for the Internet Supplement that is available, you need to complete the 2020-21 Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). If you have not completed the FAFSA, you can do that now, or submit an appeal form (see Fall 2020). International or undocumented students who are unable to complete a FAFSA are not eligible for this supplement. For more information, contact the Office of Scholarships and Student Aid (OSSA).
