Faculty Award for Excellence in Doctoral Mentoring
The Faculty Award for Excellence in Doctoral Mentoring recognizes graduate faculty who provide outstanding support and guidance to their doctoral students. We encourage the nomination of both senior and junior faculty for this award. When appropriate, The Graduate School will present two awards — one award to a senior faculty member who has demonstrated excellence as a seasoned mentor and one award to a junior faculty member who has exhibited outstanding mentoring at an early stage.
The criteria for this award are as follows:
- Encouraging students to establish their own record of scholarly activity or performance, obtain external fellowships, prepare conference presentations, and/or engage in other professional development opportunities;
- Providing a supportive environment that facilitates the development of best performance and talents from individual graduate students;
- Achieving a successful record of graduate degree completion among the students they have advised.
- Your nomination should be no longer than 1,000 words
The award(s) will be presented in conjunction with the Doctoral Hooding Ceremony. All graduate students who receive their doctoral degrees in 2022-23 are invited to nominate faculty members for this award. The deadline for nominations is Wednesday, March 15, 2023 at 5:00PM.
