Doctoral Time to Degree
This dashboard provides data on doctoral time to degree at UNC-Chapel Hill by summarizing aggregate graduation data for the given year(s).
The Time to Degree tab displays five-year medians because yearly graduation numbers for some programs are small, which can cause annual medians to fluctuate greatly. The top bar chart includes all doctoral programs at Carolina. You may click on a division bar to filter the display of programs in the chart below.
The Change Over Time tab displays change in the annual median time to degree for each doctoral program over time. You may select divisions and programs using the drop-down filters at the top of the page. If a program has no graduates for a particular year, that year is not displayed.
Both tabs display graduation numbers between 1-3 graduates as <4.
Time-to-degree is counted from when a student begins their doctoral program to when they earn their degree. If a student earned a master's degree in the same program after starting their doctoral degree, then the time spent earning the master's degree is included in their time-to-degree. If a student earned a master's degree in the same program before starting their doctoral degree, then the time spent earning the master's degree is not included.
