Clyde Jones' Critters |
|
Look carefully among the shrubs along Franklin Street and in the yards of some local residents, and you may get a glimpse of a "critter." A critter is an animal sculpture carved from wood with a chainsaw, and decorated with paint, metal, and nearly anything else. Critters are the creation of Clyde Jones, an artist who resides in nearby Bynum. A rather unique individual, Clyde does not sell his work, he only gives it away. There are literally thousands of critters scattered around the world, from Taiwan to Peru. One sits atop the Great Wall of China. What makes Clyde's critters so special? Each is a one-of-a-kind creation. To see some critter photos, visit www.carrboro.com/clyde/clydejones.html. |
