Weaver Community Housing Association |
|
In conjunction with Weaver Street Grocery Co-Op, WCHA was begun in 2002 to secure low-cost housing alternatives in the Chapel Hill-Carrboro area. The association buys apartment buildings or complexes, establishes housing co-operative, and then allows families, low-income workers, retired people, and individuals with special needs to become member/residents. Because ownership is held by a nonprofit trust, monthly rent is relatively low. This insures that as housing prices goes up in Chapel Hill and Carrboro the community remains demographically and socially diverse. For more information, visit wcha.coop/index.php. |
