Royster Lightning Talks are a way for you and other fellows to present on topics of interest, create an open space for discussion and raise awareness about Royster research across the University. In each session, you and two to three other Royster Fellows will talk for seven-to-10 minutes on aspects of a given topic. The talks are followed by a group discussion.
Once per semester, the Royster Pub Talk committee invites a UNC-Chapel Hill faculty member to give a talk to the group in an informal setting. You are welcome to join this committee at any point and help with the planning. Royster Fellows, advisers, directors of graduate studies and friends are welcome to these very popular events.
You will receive professional development workshops throughout the academic year on a variety of different topics. Some of those have included: presentation training, leadership skills, transferable skills for non-academic careers, best practices in teaching, online teaching, career options and job hunting, interviewing and many, many more. We strive to provide relevant professional development opportunities which will help you grow during your academic career.
